Washington Auto Parts, a family-owned group of 19 automotive aftermarket stores in Central Ohio, announced it will be acquiring Principal Truck Supply and will take over operations on March 1.
Ken Washington founded Washington Auto Parts in 1977 in Johnstown, Ohio, and the company now is one of the largest independent distributors of automotive parts in Central Ohio. Today, his sons, Mike and Bob Washington, own and operate the company, along with third-generation owners Matt and Corey Washington.
Columbus-based Principal Truck Supply, one of the largest independent distributors of heavy-duty truck parts in Central Ohio, has been servicing the region since 1991. Principal Truck Supply is a member of HDA Truck Pride.
Principal Truck Supply’s success over the years can be attributed to its hardworking and dedicated team of employees. The company will continue to operate at its existing facility on Fondorf Drive in Columbus.
“For our customers, everything is the same – only better,” Mike Washington said. “We are still family-owned and -operated, and we’ll provide the same great service customers have received for 42 years.”
Bob Washington added: “The biggest difference is that we can now offer our customers the unmatched inventory and quality that Principal Truck Supply is known for. It is a natural fit for Washington Auto Parts and Principal Truck Supply to come together. Each are strong brands in the community.”
Washington Auto Parts’ distribution facility and 19 stores serve Athens, Delaware, Hocking, Knox, Licking, Madison, Marion, Morrow, Pickaway, Richland, Union, Vinton and Wyandot counties. The group offers a full machine shop, including engine-block work, cylinder-head work, U-joint installation, press work and turning drums and rotors. The group also specializes in agriculture, hydraulic hoses, tools, equipment and automotive paint.
“The acquisition represents a new era for our business and our customers,” Corey Washington said. “We look forward to combining our Ohio automotive expertise with Principal Truck’s vast amounts of heavy-duty knowledge.”
