Centralized Store Services Next Major Enhancement Planned for Epicor Vision Platform

LIVERMORE, Calif. — Epicor Software Corp. (recently combined with Activant Solutions Inc.) has announced that it is adding comprehensive centralized store services capabilities to its Epicor Vision distribution management platform. Centralized services will enable Vision-powered replacement parts distributors to perform an array of important value-added tasks — including inventory management — for company stores and independent jobbers, according to the company.

“Vision centralized services will enable distributors to significantly increase the efficiency of many key company store operations and provide invaluable new support to their affiliated independent jobber customers,” said Paul Salsgiver, executive vice president and general manager, retail software for Epicor. “This is the next significant investment by Epicor in a proven platform that is helping distributors grow their businesses and increase efficiency and profitability.”

The new functionality also will provide users of the Epicor A-DIS distribution management system with a choice to move to the Vision software as the ideal next-generation solution, which coordinates services between warehouse operations and store-based Epicor J-CON and Epicor Eagle computer systems, according to Salsgiver.

“That said, we have many long-term customers on our A-DIS system and we will continue to provide product development and support for these users,” he said.

The new Vision centralized services capabilities will be compatible with a variety of leading business management systems used at the store level. Demonstrations of the new functionality will be offered at the Epicor 2012 AAPEX exhibit.

“Also, in mid-2012 we are targeting the release of a Vision-based hosted solution for use by independent stores,” Salsgiver added.

The Epicor Vision system is an innovative, highly flexible and scalable Microsoft Windows-based solution for distributors who want to control costs through extremely efficient inventory management and differentiate their businesses by delivering a superior customer experience, according to the company. The system features world-class CRM tools, a centralized database, integrated accounting and other features that help drive sales and operational efficiency. The system is designed to operate in conjunction with leading warehouse management systems.

Centralized services help parts store operators save significant time and labor in a variety of core business activities, including updating part records and pricing, managing inventories and placing and tracking orders. By centralizing these and other services at the warehouse level, the new Vision functionality will enable store personnel to focus on business growth activities and customer services.
