I have often wondered if it would be in the best interest of the consumer to have meters to log the hours that an engine is running, like those used in airplanes. It makes sense. For example: Two separate drivers travel 30,000 miles a year, each. Driver 1's mileage is, substantially, highway miles while Driver 2's mileage is in-town/stop and go traffic. Isn't it the hours on the engine, much more than the miles, that wears an engine down?

Educated guesses would have to be in order here but, it makes good sense to look into it though. But, hours run could be a key to premature failures in engines. This may be a good topic for one of our Counterman Magazine stories.

Also, it seems to be true that acceleration is harder on an engine than long, sustained RPMs. So, you may be onto something there.

Carter has expanded its line of electrical auxiliary water pumps to include three new part numbers tailored specifically for Tesla vehicles.

“With a focus on meeting the unique demands of Tesla vehicles, these auxiliary water-pump SKUs are engineered to efficiently move fluid in high-temperature environments, keeping pace with the rapidly evolving technologies found in modern engines,” the company said in a news release.
