I have a 1999 Nissan Sentra and the check engine light comes on and goes off constantly.

Every time I had it checked, I get a cylinder one misfire. I have also noticed that when the air temp seems to be “just right”, the light remains off and the car runs great. But if it is too hot or cold, the light is on and the car runs very rough. I have changed the plugs, wires, cap and rotor and the ambient temperature sensor (thinking it’s an air/fuel ratio problem). Nothing works.

The only other issue I can think of is a clogged injector but then why the on-again, off-again? Any ideas what the issue might be? Thanks

I recently just purchased a Chevrolet with over 150,000 miles on it. Is it possible for it to last as long as a Toyota or a Nissan, and what can I do to help it last that long?

A key factor in having any vehicle perform at its optimum peak can be summed up in two words, PROPER MAINTENANCE. This means changing oils, filters and other components at regular intervals that are suggested by the vehicle manufacturer. I have had vehicles that I have properly maintained, and have gotten more than 200,000 miles

Can Dexron VI be used in place of Dexron III in older Nissan applications?

Dexron VI was introduced in 2006 for GM Hydra-Matic 6L80 6-speed rear-wheel-drive transmissions, and has since become the replacement upgrade for older transmissions that previously required Dexron III or II. So yes, it can be used in a Nissan that specified Dexron III.  –Larry Carley, Technical Editor, Counterman magazine
